Last year, Mollie Campbell and her Auntie Lianne accomplished an incredible milestone by completing The London Winter Walk 2024 on January 27th, raising funds for BEAT – the UK’s leading eating disorder charity. Surpassing their £2,000 target, Mollie shared her heartfelt gratitude for the invaluable support she received from BEAT during her own recovery journey.

Recently, Mollie’s story caught the attention of the BBC, leading to an interview about her experiences with an eating disorder and her experiences with the front-line staff during her lowest times.

Her interview can be viewed on BBC iPlayer’s Breakfast programme at timestamp 2:16:30 WATCH HERE.

When asked about her activities since last year’s fundraiser, Mollie shared:

"Since doing the fundraiser last year, I’ve been working with BEAT on an advisory board for a new eating disorder treatment being developed by King’s College London. I was also trained by BEAT as an 'Expert by Experience.' Other than that, I’ve been focusing on studying for my A-levels, preparing for my Grade 7 piano exam, and spending time with my puppy!"

Reflecting on her BBC interview, Mollie expressed how much the experience meant to her:

"Being interviewed by the BBC was a very surreal experience because I never imagined a life outside of my eating disorder. Being given an opportunity to use my experience in such a positive way has made me feel very grateful that I chose to get better. I hope my story can help other people who feel trapped in their eating disorder and show them that if their treatment isn’t working, or if they cannot access professional treatment, it is not their fault – and it will get easier. While it was hard to reflect on the darkest moments of my eating disorder, it also reminded me of the progress I’ve made."

Looking ahead, Mollie has exciting plans for the future:

"After college, I’m planning to study English and Spanish Literature at Surrey University with the goal of becoming an English teacher. I’d also love to volunteer for Women’s Aid and BEAT’s volunteer programmes."

Mollie’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and advocacy, and her dedication to helping others continues to inspire.
