The Henley College Aspire Programme is for students who have achieved 7+ grades at GCSE as well as those aspirational students who are highly motivated with high level career aspirations.
Students on an A level study path will be enrolled on the Extended Project and will attend designated tutor groups focused on preparing students for Sutton 30, Russell Group and Oxbridge applications, working closely with our dedicated Oxbridge Co-ordinator. Tutorials will also identify and develop relevant knowledge and experience to enhance students’ university applications, and we will also work with students on developing their higher level skills within the national Skills Builder framework.
Aspire students will also be encouraged to join the Student Leadership enrichment programme, which will allow them to play a vital role in shaping College policy, and will prepare them for potentially running for Student Union in their second year.
90% of our students who go on to Russell Group universities receive a 2:1 or above, compared to 88% of students from both the Sixth Form and State Sectors, so this is an exciting opportunity for high performing students to reach their full potential with our help and guidance.
The Henley College offers over 40 A levels on a wide range of subjects, including Ancient History, Business, Classics , Engineering, English, Languages, Law, Philosophy, Politics and Religious studies.

The Extended Project is a distinctive and highly regarded qualification, designed to develop a range of transferable skills such as planning, research, analysis and evaluation. This course consists of a taught element, which includes an introduction to research methods and evaluation skills, as well as learning how to give a good spoken presentation, together with the actual completion of the Project.

It’s important to give our students a voice within the College and allow them to play a vital role in shaping the College from the inside, while also being an ambassador for the College in the wider community. The Student Leadership enrichment programme helps students develop the ability to listen to each other’s views, demonstrate tolerance and respect as well as building their own self-worth and self-esteem through having their opinions and ideas heard.
