Health care and social care priorities are focused on disease prevention, the promotion of healthy lifestyles and giving those we support more independence, choice and control about the care they receive.
You will complete a combination of core, mandatory and specialist units, assessed through coursework assignments and two externally set exams.
You may be required to complete an activity before you start in order to help introduce you to the subject. Check back in the summer term for more details.
You will learn through classroom-based lessons and activities, plus supervised work placements. You will gain the range of knowledge and skills that you need to be successful in a career in the care sector, as well as vital work experience. To be successful on the course you will need to be able to use communication skills to solve problems, meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team. There are two exam units as part of your course, and so effective study skills are needed.
Each unit will be graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction and your
overall grade will have two grades in the range of PP to D*D*.
