COURSE OVERVIEW

Students will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of Public Services and will learn vital skills in communication and team work needed to pursue a career in the Armed Forces, Emergency Services (including Police, Fire & Rescue and Ambulance Service) or Custodial Service.

COURSE STRUCTURE

WHAT IS AN APPLIED A LEVEL?

This course is equivalent to one A Level, and is for students wishing to go onto either a career in Public Services or further study in a related field. 

BEFORE YOU START

You may be required to complete an activity before you start in order to help introduce you to the subject. Check back in the summer term for more details.

  • Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services (external exam)
  • Teamwork, Leadership and Communications in the UPS
  • Introduction to Criminology
  • Police Powers and the Law

LIFE AFTER HENLEY

COMMON ROUTES FOR PUBLIC SERVICES STUDENTS:

Employment in the uniformed protective services sector,  for example: police, ambulance, fire brigade, army, navy, RAF, HM prison service and HM customs, progressing to higher education to a related degree course.

Higher education such as University courses in Professional Policing, Forensics, Criminology, Social research and Politics

ENRICHMENT

Students are required to complete at least 30 hours of enrichment per academic year whilst studying at The Henley College, learn more about Enrichment here.
