COURSE STRUCTURE

Before You Start

You may be required to complete an activity before you start in order to help introduce you to the subject. Check back in the summer term for more details.

Course Content

In year 1 you will develop an understanding of anatomy, skill acquisition and sport in society. You will also start your written coursework where you will be required to analyse and evaluate a defending and tactical skill from the syllabus. In year 2 you will deepen your knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology and technology in sport. You will also submit your practical video evidence (demonstrating attacking, defending and strategic / tactical skills) from fully competitive situations. This is a predominantly theoretical course, but practical sessions are used where relevant to highlight key learning opportunities. Although high-level competitive performance is not essential, your athletic ability will influence your final grade as you will be assessed as a performer in your main sport from the approved AQA list.

You are also encouraged to supplement your programme with the Extended Project.
