Social sciences are not only what you study to become a social worker or a teacher, the range of careers you can pursue is much broader. Social sciences cover subjects as diverse as childcare, politics, psychology and sociology – all subjects that impact on the wider world, looking at society and the relationships among individuals within it.

As a Henley social science student, you will learn the analytical and comprehension skills that are important throughout many industries and organisations. Social science qualifications are in high demand as you will also have transferable skills in problem solving, planning and communicating complex technical solutions to others.

CARA MCCAFFREY, FROM MAIDENHEAD ACHIEVED A TRIPLE DISTINCTION IN HER EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE.

“After getting cold feet with the A Levels I had chosen at my local sixth form, I applied to The Henley College at the beginning of September 2017.
I studied Health and Social Care Extended Diploma Level 3 and instantly felt like the course was for me. During my GCSEs I was interested in psychology and nursing, and starting a BTEC in a similar field allowed my interest to grow and my academic side to grow immensely.
After finishing my first year with a Distinction, I had my eyes set on university and an end goal of becoming a nurse. I applied to Cardiff
University, Southampton University, University of Birmingham, University of Surrey and Birmingham City University. After receiving offers from them all, I chose the University of Birmingham as my firm choice and Surrey as my insurance.”

Cara came to The Henley College from Newlands Girls School and went on to the University of Birmingham to study Nursing.
