Health & Safety

Safety on campus is taken very seriously with all staff and students issued with lanyards and photographic ID.

There is CCTV and dedicated security, premises and health and safety staff. The College has a designated Safeguarding Officer ensuring all staff and students can work and study in a safe and secure environment.

The College is committed to providing our students with a safe and secure environment. It was noted in the recent student and parent surveys that 98% of our students and parents believe that The Henley College is a safe place to be.

The College believes strongly that our students and staff respect the rights of others, report inappropriate behaviour and do not tolerate or accept any form of bullying or discrimination.

CHILD PROTECTION, PREVENT AND SAFEGUARDING POLICIES

The College has a dedicated Safeguarding Team and the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Tristan Arnison, is responsible for child protection and safeguarding matters. He is supported by four deputies: Lisa Crew, Zoe Jelfs, Jay Smith and Tracy Page. All staff have received safeguarding and prevent training.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND NETWORKING POLICY

Our students will be reminded about on line safety throughout their time at the College and they will be actively encouraged to be safe when using the internet.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL POLICY

The College has a zero tolerance policy for both drugs and alcohol. No student must be under the influence of, or have possession of drugs or alcohol during the College day

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

Our Code of Conduct sets out the College commitments, student commitments and what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour at the College; all students will be issued with the code of conduct when they start at the College

STUDENT WELFARE

The College has two dedicated Counsellors available Monday – Friday; we have a College Nurse offering drop-in sessions on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and a Wellbeing Worker from Oxfordshire Mind offering drop-in sessions on a Wednesday.

All students will be given a Personal Tutor who will offer pastoral and academic support. There are three Lead Tutors at the College, a Student Services Team, the Safeguarding Team and the Prevent Team, all offering support to our students.

We have “safe places” on both the Rotherfield and Deanfield Sites, clearly signposted for those students who have worries, anxieties or concerns.
